Years ago, Norton was notoriously intrusive and resource intense, leading many people to just uninstall it once the trial period ended. Similar to McAfee, Norton often comes pre-installed on new PCs and laptops, so many people's first exposure to Norton was after booting up a new computer for the first time. We still think it's worth it.Norton Antivirus is an easily recognizable name in antivirus, and has been for years. You still get the same database for virus and malware protection, though you do have to suffer the indignity of seeing tiny lock icons on some elements of the UI. Pricing varies according to the level and duration of protection as well as the number of devices included in the license, making some programs sweet for families but less so for individuals. Depending on how much you pay, you can get either a bare bones package or one that covers practically any threat your PC or phone might be vulnerable to these days. Antivirus has also come of age too, and now most packages offer a much larger breadth of protection that can include defenses against malware, anti-phishing, credit card protection, ransomware, and lots more.
